Chandigarh launches a web portal for obtaining approvals for setting up solar power plant

Chandigarh launched a web portal for obtaining all clearances for setting up solar power plants in the city.

UT Adviser Parimal Rai launched the portal, www.solarchandigarh.com on Tuesday during a one-day conference on “Promoting Energy Efficiency: Moving towards Solar Future”.

The portal is an initiative of Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society (CREST), the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) who also organized the conference to give clean, green energy initiative a major push.

“We are moving towards more and more technology-driven things. As a result, our energy needs have also multiplied. There is no harm in consuming power and making our life more comfortable but we should remember we must use power optimally. There is a dire need to switch to greener sources of power generation. Solar energy is one such medium,” said the Adviser.
