Govt waives off inter state transmission charges for solar and wind projects

In order to further encourage the renewable sources of energy, the Central government has waived inter-state transmission charges and losses on the transmission of electricity generated from solar and wind projects by revising the National Tariff Policy.

The government issued a notification in regarding this on September 30. The notification was released after consultation with Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Central Electricity Authority, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission and POSOCO.

The waiver will be applicable for wind power projects commissioned till March 31, 2019, and solar power projects commissioned till March 31, 2017.

The waiver will be available for 25 years from the date of commissioning of both wind and solar projects. However, the waiver will be applicable only to those wind and solar projects that awarded through competitive bidding.
