Cumulative solar installations in India have reached 8,643 Megawatt as of September 2016 and so far, adding 1.8 GW capacity in last 6 Months, as the installation capacity of India was 6762.853 as on 31st March 2016.
India had crossed the 8GW installation capacity in July 2016 with 8062.039, as on 31st July 2016.
Four states have crossed the 1 GW solar installation mark. Out of the 8.6 GW installed so far, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh have had significant activity and account for 59 percent of total installations.
India has solar installation target of 12GW for the financial year 2016-2017. Of which, 4800 MW is solar Rooftop capacity and 7200MW is utility scale solar PV installation capacity .
Also, The Asian Development Bank would be giving funding of $500 million to help rooftop solar energy system in India.
