UBM India, organizers of annual Renewable Energy India exposition (REI) organized the 11th edition of Solar Energy Investment and Technology Forum, which was held for the first time in jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan on 22nd April 2016.
The Solar Energy Investment and Technology Forum, Rajasthan edition was aimed to provide an industry platform to associations and industry leaders, building owners, consultants, manufacturers, contractors, Governments and high-level decision makers, academia, green power providers, project and technology developers, large corporate SME’s and banks, system integrators and investors to debate and discuss business opportunities in the solar sector.
Mr. Rahul Prithiani (Director, CRISIL Research), Mr. Danish Varma (Associate Director-Sustainable investment Banking), Ketan Mehata (Director Operations, RaysPower Infra), Naveen Khandelwal (Head investment & strategy, Hero Fututre Energies), Rajinder Kumar Kaura, A.K. Jain (Managing Director, Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Ltd, Jaipur), Saurabh Bhandari (CEO, SolarMaxx), Shishir Goel (Vice President, Technology & Marketing, Brij Encapsulants India), Thomas Mathew (Sr. VP Business Development), Trilok Singh ( Regional Head-Business Development, Mahindra Susten Private Limited) presented their views on the solar power scenario in the country.

In the Session 1 Forum had discussed about the Harnessing Solar Potential of Rajasthan beyond MW.
Rahul Prithiani introduced the scenario of Solar Power sector in the country. Rajasthan has 1285.932 MW solar power installation by April 2016 which is approximately 18% of total solar power installation in India which cumulatively is 6998.853 MW.
Where Rahul Prithihani, Trilok Singh and Thomas Mathew briefed about solar power in India Ketan Mehta discussed about the difficulties in Open access, Net Metering and RESCO Model and Danish Varma talked about the Investment in Solar Sector and issues related to delay in financial closures.
In the 2nd session of the conference discussion over Indigenous Manufacturing Hub took place.
Saurabh Bhandari, Shishir Goel, A.K. Jain and Sanjay Chandra introduced their respective organizations and raised concerns about the Indian manufacturers. They discussed about how to identify a quality modules for the power plant and the price difference in Indian and Chinese solar panels, Mr. Rajinder Prasad concluded the topic.
In the 3rd Session the forum had a discussion over Best Practices in RE Project Development.
Mr. Rajinder Prasad started the discussion over the subject by criticizing the government policies for solar power sector. Danish Varma and Naveen Khandelwal talked about the financing of large Solar PV projects and financial opportunities and risk involved in the sector and Trilok Singh and Ketan Mehta discussed about the solar power models in country, risk involved and prevention for the risk.
In the 4th and the last session of the conference the panel had discussed about Empowering Discoms.
Mr. Bihag Mehta, Mr. Ketan Mehta and Rajider kumar discussed about the poor condition of the Discoms and the possible measures that can be taken by the Discom to improve the health of the Distribution Companies.
